Obituary for Anita Jo Jones - Rakes
Anita Jo Jones-Rakes, 62, of Morgantown and Beckley, passed away Thursday, January 19th, 2023 at WVU Medicine - JW Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Beckley, WV on December 24th, 1960, Anita was a daughter of the late Richard and Zelda Walker Jones.
Anita is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Gary Kevin Rakes; her son, Kevin Rakes of wife Leann; two grandchildren, Ethan and Corwin Rakes; and one brother, Richard "Rick" Jones, II and his partner Robin Butler.
Anita was a 1979 graduate of Shady Spring High School, and obtained her Bachelors Degree from Concorde University. She retired from the City of Beckley as a Benefits Coordinator after 30 years of service, and while in Morgantown, worked for the past six years for Healthworks. In her retirement, she loved having her grandchildren near to spend time with.
At her request, Anita has been cremated, and there will be no services scheduled at this time.
